Introduction

This website will be used to keep parents informed of the curriculum that their child will follow each month so that they may help them continue to learn at home. There is a section for children and parents. There is also a section for teachers! The children's section contains games and activities that tie in with that month's curriculum. The parent's section contains money saving tips and other useful information. The teachers section contains suggestions for activities and field trips for that month. Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions that we can use to make the site work for you.

January Curriculum Ideas

Make a vegetable tray/taste variety of other vegetables

Look in magazines for pictures of vegetables.

Take a trip to the library.

Write a letter or post card to someone you know.

Make hot chocolate and vanilla pudding (compare hot and cold items)

Count objects around the house such as socks, plates, cups steps etc.

Play "Simon Says"

Do the Hokey Pokey.

Mark off days on a calendar.  Talk about today, tonight, tomorrow, yesterday.

Find all the clocks in the home.

Rhyme Activity

     Nonsense words while completing household tasks (dressing, leaving, etc)

     Have fun with rhyming words (cat, hat, sat, mat)

Alphabet Share

     Find something that starts with the letter of the week at school.

     Recognize, print and sound out letter.

Show/identify poison items on shelves.

Help children solve problems by discussing options.

Continue to provide writing material.

Find white/black items in the home.

Point out square, rectangle, triangle, star and diamond shapes in the home.

Provide activities that encourage the understanding of fast/slow,

     above/below, over/under.
